<image:title>Active Projects - James Farley (He/Him)</image:title>
<image:caption>James is an Actor and Writer. “I’ve been an openly gay actor since graduating drama school four years ago and have had to deal with my fair share of rejection for not passing as heterosexual or typically masculine, so now I’ve decided the only way to do the work I want to do is to write it. Writing is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time but never had the confidence or tools to do it. But this play I’ve been trying to write for a few years is desperately itching to get out, which is why I applied, to push myself to get it out."</image:caption>

<image:title>Active Projects - Nilgin Yusuf (She/Her)</image:title>
<image:caption>Nilgin is a Journalist and Playwright. “Writing’s one of the few things you get better at as you get older”. I took solace from these words, spoken by author and lecturer, Julia Bell at a fiction-writing workshop in Waterstones. At the time, I was 52 and in the first year of a BA in Creative Writing at Birkbeck, University of London. I’d been an experienced journalist (ex-Sunday Times, Daily Telegraph & ELLE) and spent two further decades in Higher Education but had always wondered if I could make the leap into creative writing. ”</image:caption>

<image:title>Active Projects - Akshay Sharan (He/Him)</image:title>
<image:caption>Akshay is an Actor and Writer. “I was born in Darlington in the north of England and brought up in Dehradun in the north of India. I graduated from King’s College London in 2015 with a degree in English Literature. In my writing, I attempt to tread a fine line between comedy and drama. I often find myself returning to Chekhov’s body of work in pursuit of blurring that boundary between hilarity and tragedy. The universal relatability of family drama is something I want to bring home for myself by tapping into different, often conflicting voices of both my own and the British South Asian community at large.”</image:caption>

<image:caption>Lizzie is a Playwright and Storyteller. “I am a playwright and storyteller who makes playful and affirming shows centering queer and neurodiverse experiences. I am particularly interested in how we can represent and celebrate joy on stage, not just trauma. I am heavily influenced by folklore and mythology in my work and I am interested in how aural traditions of storytelling can inform a contemporary theatrical experience. ”</image:caption>

<image:title>The Collective Blog - Environmental Theatre: Can it actually do anything? - Introducing: Chris Fittock</image:title>
<image:caption>Environmental Theatre is a hot topic for our community. Logically, the need is there. But a lot of us are asking ‘can it actually do anything?’. Mrs C’s Collective held a discussion board at the beginning of the year, led by community member Zoe Woodruff. Zoe wanted to explore the potential of this emerging genre - it became clear just how new and complex making work with an environmental mission is. So, it made complete sense to invite Chris Fittock over for a chat. Chris is a leading maker of environmental theatre, and we are thrilled to have had Chris share with us an honest account of his current journey, confronting the climate crisis as a theatre-maker. Grab a cup of tea, a biscuit and maybe even a notebook, because you’re in for a good read here!</image:caption>

As a dramaturg, I research and develop scripts for performance. <image:caption>Looking for: collaborators, designers (set, costume, lighting, sound), actors, writers, producers, stage managers Skills: directing, dramaturgy, writing, movement, choreography, dance, script editing, reviewing, facilitating workshops, life coaching Location: London I’m a theatre director & dramaturg specialising in text-based, character-driven stories that engage with the complexities of our psychologies and relationships. Having danced for most of my life, I love to incorporate movement into my work, exploring how aspects of a narrative that may resist verbal expression can be told through physical means. As a dramaturg, I research and develop scripts for performance. I strive to work collaboratively with the playwright to examine and refine every aspect of their play, from character and plot to form and style. Overall, my aim is to ensure that every beat of the text is serving the aims and objectives of its writer. For more about me, what I do, and how we might work together, get in touch! I also have experience in video creation, from voice acting to editing, to management. Location: London, willing to in London or remotely for online projects where possible. I'm an Australian screenwriter based in the UK creating thriller screenplays with an element of the fantastic: Dark, bizarre and twisting reality to enthral the audience. Through my stories, I explore themes of obsessive control and social expectations through characters with a strict, self-imposed code who just want to do the "right" thing... whatever that entails. Though thrillers are my speciality, I'm also enamoured with fantasy and animation. I craft big concepts and even bigger worlds, observing the parallels they draw with reality.
